A Mathematical Modeling for Plastic Analysis of Planar Frames by Linear Programming and Genetic Algorithm

author

Abstract:

In this paper, a mathematical modeling is developed for plastic analysis of planar frames. To this end, the researcher tried to design an optimization model in linear format in order to solve large scale samples. The computational result of CPU time requirement is shown for different samples to prove efficiency of this method for large scale models. The fundamental concept of this model is obtained from moment distribution method which is a safe theorem based method, so in this mathematical modeling, the objective is finding the largest load which ensures equilibrium and yield conditions. Contrary to moment distribution method, calculation of load factor and the value of moments in the elements are completely automatic and not to need user decision. As the objective function and constraints of this model are linear so it can be solved by linear programming (LP) software such as LINGO that is shown in this paper and also the model is solved by genetic algorithm (GA) to compare two solutions

Enhanced ACS algorithms for plastic analysis of planar frames

In recent years, the trend in solving optimization problems has been directed toward using heuristic algorithms such as neural networks, genetic and ant colony algorithms. The main reason for this trend can be attributed to the fact that these algorithms can be efficiently adjusted to the specific search space to which they are applied and consequently they can be used for many optimization pro...

PLASTIC ANALYSIS OF PLANAR FRAMES USING CBO AND ECBO ALGORITHMS

In rigid plastic analysis one of the most widely applicable methods that is based on the minimum principle, is the combination of elementary mechanisms which uses the upper bound theorem. In this method a mechanism is searched which corresponds to the smallest load factor. Mathematical programming can be used to optimize this search process for simple fra...

Analysis and Modeling of VoIP Servers: A Linear Programming Approach

The SIP protocol was standardized by the IETF at the application layer for initiating, managing, and terminating multimedia sessions and has been widely used as the main signaling protocol on both the Internet and VoIP networks. Most challenges in this protocol are overload and lack of proper state distribution. These challenges cause a wide range of next-generation network users to face a shar...

A Mathematical Programming Model and Genetic Algorithm for a Multi-Product Single Machine Scheduling Problem with Rework Processes

In this paper, a multi-product single machine scheduling problem with the possibility of producing defected jobs, is considered. We concern rework in the scheduling environment and propose a mixed-integer programming (MIP) model for the problem.  Based on the philosophy of just-in-time production, minimization of the sum of earliness and tardiness costs is taken into account as the objective fu...
